Summary – Camp Nauvoo is latest addition to the Golden Empire Council’s group of Camps. The camp is located in Placerville, California on 86.5 acres of mainly forested land. The camp boasts a stream which runs through the Oak and Pine forests and a large grassy area, which is perfect for individual and group activities. As the camp is in the Sierra Foothills with limited access and parking, it makes an ideal location for weekend camping, hiking and backpacking. You may even see a number of wild turkeys who are the full time residents of the camp.
Currently the camp is intended for use by units, patrols and families. The camp is also a great place to hold training classes (like National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)). The camp has running water at the lodge/dining hall, showers and flushing toilets, a number of tent platforms and an amphitheatre with a large campfire pit for skits, songs, stunts and flag retirement ceremonies. In the long term, the camp will become a Cub Scout Resident Camp. In the meantime, you can contact the Council office to reserve the camp for your weekend camping, hiking or training activities.
